I hate to be a fanboy but the Apple tablet computer might make your life better. The Apple tablet might make your life better because it will do everything netbooks do, but better.
One of the greatest things that I thought the netbook would bring was a huge step forward in the convenience of computing. The only step that it took towards that was making the lap computer smaller and no one has been able to get the form factor right yet. If we know anything it’s that Apple knows design. I don’t think that when I see the tablet I’ll want to put it under my pillow every night like I did the iPhone BUT, I’m willing to bet that because of what it’s going to do to computing I’ll want to have it in my lap every moment on the couch.
Here are 5 ways that I think the Apple tablet will make you want to use that you might not have done on a netbook before:
Manage your finances
Who isn’t doing online baking these days online or on their phones? Millions today are at least checking the balances online an/or using bill pay. Yep, get home every night, head to the den for an hour or so, and get to reconciling. Those days will be over. Now you’ll go home, have dinner with the family, and then sit down on the couch and reconcile your transactions while you watch Conan O’Brien not be on TV.
Read more magazines, not books
GASP, the Apple tablet not an ebook reader? Well, while I’m sure the tablet will have some ebook features to it I’m really looking forward to it revolutionizing magazines. I mean imagine, you have two things on your coffee table, one is a net book and one is that thing about the size of a
magazine and about the shape of a magazine. Where would you go?

100% of the time if I had the side by side option of even a regular magazine Sports Illustrated and going to the website, I choose the magazine. Frankly I don’t care if the next e-Dan Brown novel has annotations or little video clips of the Vatican in it but if I can pick up a thing that looks like a magazine and feels like a magazine but can be any magazine I want it to be – count me in.
Kitchen computing
I don’t think I have to explain this one much after the movie Julie & Julia. For me it’s Jacques Pepin but whatever. Yes, finally because it’s not a laptop in the computer you’ll like it, why?
- you can prop it up like a cook book
- you can watch and navigate cooking videos
- you can see what the dish is supposed to look like when it’s done
- and best of all, you can bookmark it and add it to your Apple tablet recipe book

Need I say more? Yes, BAM!
Finally bring video phones to the living room
Yes finally, no more puke gray handset with a jumpy picture. No more running to the basement or office when your Skype ringer goes off. When your favorite VOIP app rings and the Apple tablet front facing camera beckons, it’ll be on your coffee table. And Voila! You just picked up the phone like it was an actual phone call, wait for it….wait for it…OOOOOH, AAAAH.

Surf more interwebs
And finally, of course because your trained to pick up magazine like things and browse them like bugs to a light, you’ll surf more than ever before. This will trigger your magazine waiting room reflex and you can’t help but pick it up. You’ve been trained all your life while:
- getting an oil change
- waiting for a root canal
- waiting that unpleasant annual checkup
- waiting to pick your kid up from anything
- waiting waiting waiting, now you’ll bring the luxury of waiting to your very living room
Convergence and convenience is why the table is going to make your life better, but…is it worth the cost?

how stupid, you can't say this yet when it isn't even out, to say that it will make your life easier, there already making tablets and you stupid fanboys are freaking out, pathetic. other tablets will be able to do all this and much more, so stop talking about how apple is gonna make the best tablet when you dont even know.

Yah, it's pretty fanboy-ish. The first sentence *does* say that it *might* do these things.
Everything out there right now is speculation so all the posts are consequently speculative. But, if we look at what Apple did to phones it's a pretty safe bet in my book that they're going to shake up, aka create, the tablet market.
Just look at how many phones look and act like the iPhone now. You could say that's just where we would've gotten through evolution but then you'd also still have to say that Apple got there first. I think they'll do to tablet computers what they did to phones.
